Type MaskThe word is the picture

Kinetic type over your footage: every word of the vocal fills the frame on its own hit, inverted against the clip behind it, with plain footage between phrases.

How it works

Every word fills the frame on its own hit

Upload a track, type the vocal line and add your footage. The app sets each word across the whole frame in difference mode, so the letters show the clip in inverted colour, cuts plain footage on the beat between phrases and holds the last word.

01
A track with a vocal line

A short sung or spoken line about something physical: the heart, water, light. Concrete words work best.

02
The words

Type the line. Tap along to the vocal so each word lands where it is sung, or let the app put them on the beat.

03
Word footage

One clip or photo per word that shows what the word says. Old phone or camera footage gives the look.

04
Plain footage

4 to 6 clips for the gaps between phrases: sky, trees, a road at sunset, a street lamp.

05
Overlay (optional)

One texture clip on top of the last phrase, like soap bubbles or rain on glass.

1Track

Pick the moment the vocal line starts. The edit runs from there until the last word has held.

2Words

One phrase per line, as the vocal sings it. Every word gets its own hit. Join words with + to show them together (Let+yourself). Plain footage plays between phrases.

Word footage plays in file-name order, one clip per word. If you add fewer clips than words, they repeat. Pick footage that shows the word: sky for “pumps”, water for “you”. Old phone and camera footage looks best; the app keeps it soft on purpose.

4Type and look

“Invert the footage” is the reference look: white letters in difference mode, so every letter shows the clip in opposite colours. “Footage inside the letters” fills the words with the clip on black.
