FL GardenYour DAW behind you
Upload a locked-off video. The app separates you from the background, you draw the zones where you want something, and whatever you put there sits behind you, at the transparency you choose.
Your DAW, right behind you
Film yourself dancing to your track, then add a screen recording of your DAW. The app cuts you out, puts the DAW in the zones you draw behind you and lines everything up with the music. No editing skills needed.
The camera stays still the whole take. Shoot vertical, a little above your head and tilted down, full body in frame.
Wide and uncluttered, with nothing piled up behind you. The cleaner the background, the cleaner your cutout.
Light from the front or the side. Avoid bright windows behind you.
Let the track play in the room while you film. The app hears it in your video and lines you up with the music on its own.
A screen recording of your session with its audio, in one go, no pauses.
Upload the track too. It’s what plays in the final video, at full quality.
Video
- Phone on a tripod, not moving for the whole take.
- Start with 3 to 5 seconds without you in frame. That is the clean background.
- Lock exposure and focus (iPhone: hold your finger on the screen until AE/AF Lock shows).
- Clothes that contrast with the background and even light, with no hard shadows of you on the wall.
- No HDR: on iPhone, Settings, Camera, Formats, Most Compatible, and turn off HDR Video.
Background and silhouette
Clean background (optional: for the Clean background view and the PNG)
Use the Silhouette view to tune it: white is you, black is the background.
Zones behind you
4-point: mark the 4 corners in any order, good for a floor or wall in perspective. Freeform: mark as many points as you want and close the shape. Drag any point to adjust it.
Export
Click or drag on the waveform to pick where the music starts (yellow line). The shaded part is what gets exported. Yellow lines are bars. Typed seconds are used exactly, without snapping.
To set it by hand, pause on the frame where you start (the first move) and press “Current frame”. That frame lands on the start of the music.
It takes a while: the app builds the video frame by frame. A 30-second video can take a couple of minutes. Keep the tab open.
In Premiere with the silhouette: V1 your video, V2 whatever goes behind, V3 your video again, V4 the silhouette. On V3 apply Track Matte Key, matte V4, Composite using Luma. Turn off V4’s eye.
In After Effects: put the silhouette above a copy of your video and on the copy pick Track Matte, Luma Matte. Anything below sits behind you.
